The Hour Between

I have longed for mornings where your breath meets mine,

For the right to call thee by lawful sign,

For rooms awakened by the joy of you and me,

For life that knows no home but where thou be.

You were never forged for tempests such as these,
Never raised to stand against such bitter breeze,
Yet for our fragile hope you rise and plead,
A gentle heart compelled to daring deed.

I know it is my love that drew this storm to rise,
My restless heart that would not once be wise,
What sin was mine but loving you in truth,
And dreaming of forever since our youth.

I live within the cost your courage pays,

And breathe between the verdict of these days,

May fortitude abide within thy breast,

And bring thee home when all is put to test.

If destiny is stern and keeps us far apart,
It shall not banish you out my heart,
For all I ask of time and mortal span,
Is but your hand in mine, and that is all I can.

Fire Meets Flower

A friend sent me an image without any context. A flower shop burning, flames rising and a man walking forward holding flowers. She asked me to write something spontaneous. So this is not an explanation or an interpretation. Just a response to what I felt looking at it.

The fire knows how to take
He knows how to hold
Between flame and stem
Love remains the same.

The shop burns with purpose

The flowers burn with meaning

One destroys because it can

The other exists because it must.

As She Is

I think of her as a semblance that holds my gaze

An abstract that lets desire exist without haste.

Curves that need no divine to be sanctified

Made not to tempt. Held in awe.

She is not envisioned in fragments

The thought takes in her whole.

Ken stays longer than it should

And learns the grace of staying.

Even touch feels subdued in her presence

The form understands before the caress does.

What dwells before me stands complete

It persists, and that is enough.

Whispers of Black

Caressed by cotton candy,

Silhouettes emerge, hiding, seeking,

Some sharp and others softly receding,

Yet ever present.

Rain dances in rhythm, soft yet fierce

As trees cloaked in misty veils,

Stand like seekers on a pilgrimage,

Marching towards a dream unseen.

But little do they know,

Their roots bind them to this eternal wait,

Climbing towards a summit

Where nothing awaits but the void.

Vulnerable yet unshakable still,

It looms, dark and divine,

An enigma carved by time,

Both sanctuary and solitary shrine.

A Dream Bus

It was eight in the morn,

When star gleamed

Boarded a bus, A Dream bus!

A Dream most Men Had

When expectation turn into experience

Everything Felt unhurried

Buzzing overtakes, nervous scrolling

Twitching eyes kept rolling

And then came the time

Legs gone numb,

But had to alight

Hoping of boarding another Dream bus.

Drizzling Drops

Here I am,

Lying on the soft plank

Gazing through the East window

Adoring the waterfall,

Low-light of the scattered white

Dancing Greens came to sight

Lil ones peeping through crevice

landed gently on my cheek,

Desiccated figure feeling wetted

levitating breeze hitting muted

Arctic on my face

Antarctic in my heart

hefty eyelids slowly shut

and out went the light

to fondle me good night.

Time’s Quiet Turning

Into 20s

Approaching the Midst

Halfway through the energy

No more paperbacks

Contemplating for a job

Bride walking in,

Infants crawling in,

Responsibilities storming in

Sigh!

Dramatic Decade ahead

A Decade of Consciousness.

Poem by a Murderer

It was a two-wheeler ride back home

A habitual ride it was

until the four-legged turned in,

White little one

Legs scurrying over the tar

Eyes glaring in ambition

Heart pounding with hope

Hoping of crossing the thoroughfare,

By making an indecisive overtake

I was moving ahead in traffic,

With the blink of an eye

and groan of a pup

wheels ran over the dewlap,

Heard bones cracking under my wheel

Saw flesh mangled by rubber

and felt the heart losing its rhythm

Horrendous scene not to be seen,

A heft on my chest, Heavier than tears

burying me alive with my fears,

Apologies for being the Murderer

of the Magnum opus of nature.
